As you may have noticed already there’s a special section within the profiles dedicated to items. Items can be obtained in many ways. They cannot be bought, however, as we do not use an in game currency system. Items can be obtained through the following ways:

* Encountered within any type of random event.
* Dropped by an enemy after battle.
* As a quest reward.
* Trading with another character IC.
* Gifted from another character IC.
* By crafting an item with items you already own.

USING ITEMS

The whole deal about items is that they can be used. To use an item, simply copy the ITEM USAGE template at the bottom of this page and paste it at the bottom of the post in which you use the item. This applies to every item, except weapons. After you've posted your post in which you use an item, don't forget to fill in the form within THIS thread! The item will then be deleted from your inventory.

Using items without notifying the staff is strictly forbidden! If you see this happening within a thread, don't hesitate to contact the staff.
Types of items
There are several types of items within the RP. This section in the guidebook will carefully cover all of them, so that you and your character are ready to use them whenever needed on your RP adventure. Items will regularly be updated as players will discover new types of Items within their threads. Click HERE for a list of currently known items within the realm! The stars on each item represent the rarity, and thus how strong the spells/effects/weapons are.

Starter Items

When creating your character you’re allowed to start your adventure with two starting items! One of this will be a weapon, and the other one can be any one star item from the ‘REGULAR ITEMS’ list within THIS thread.

STARTER WEAPON

Every character is allowed a starter weapon upon creation, whether you’re planning to engage in battles or not. The starting weapons your character is allowed to choose from are:
Basic Dagger
★☆☆☆☆☆
A basic dagger.
Basic Sword
★☆☆☆☆
A basic sword.
Basic bow
★☆☆☆☆
A basic bow.
Basic Spear
★☆☆☆☆
A basic spear.
If you decide to create a character within a guild, and the character has been guildmember for at least five IC years, you may choose to start out with a two star weapon instead of the regular starter weapons, to keep things a bit more realistic. With the many quests they have probably already taken on it is only fair for them to have found a slightly stronger weapon by now. But, when choosing a two star weapon for you newly created guild character you cannot choose a starter item for them!

STARTER ITEM

Your starter item can be any one star item from the regular items list, IF your character has a valid reason to own it written within their history! If they don’t you won’t be able to own this item until you obtain it IC.

REGULAR ITEMS

Regular Items are mostly items that can be fun to use for plot purposes. Items that don’t really do anything but can be used for crafting also fall under this category, a unicorn horn for example. Regular items are the most common items to find.

CRAFTED ITEMS

Crafted items are, obviously, items that you can craft. They can be crafted from regular items that your character already owns. Crafting an item can be done by filling in the form within THIS thread. You can choose to write the crafting process within an IC thread, but it’s not necessary. To be able to craft an item, one must first obtain the recipe of the item!(???) Recipes can be obtained the same way any other item can, except they can’t be crafted obviously.

Warning: When crafting an item, the items used to craft the item will be removed from your inventory!

BATTLE ITEMS

Battle items are items strictly to be used in battle. They often add points to your rolls depending on your weapon/class/species and overall make your battles a lot easier.

You may happen to find or obtain a battle item that doesn’t align with your character’s class or weapon. In this case your best luck is to find a character to trade items with, gift it to another character or to put it up for trade at the Black Market.

WEAPONS

Beside items, your character can also find, obtain or craft weapons to help them on their adventure. For characters that don’t really intend to engage in battles, weapons probably will be less interesting than for characters who do. This is because weapons have a chance to add points to your attack rolls, depending on the weapon’s rarity.

When creating your character they are allowed to own a basic weapon of any kind (see ‘’starter items”). This weapon won’t have any attack bonuses.

Weapons that your character can find may vary from very powerful weapons to maybe even enchanted weapons. Beside the attack bonus, more powerful and rare weapons also can be fun within plot lines, as they have a fair chance to boost your character’s prestige when they show up with a really cool looking and powerful new weapon. Especially within a guild.

ARTEFACTS

Artifacts are powerful, magical items that were crafted by the talons of dragons. They hold great value within the realm of ???. Even though considered rare, these items can be found all across the realm, If one happens to be lucky. However, they're mostly found within runes, dungeons and other dangerous areas, left behind by the powerful dragons who crafted them.

Artifacts can be used to perform whatever spell is bound to them or can be sold/traded. Casting an artefact spell may not always work, and can even have some nasty side effects If you’re unlucky, as the magic inside wasn’t supposed to be casted by humanoid hands.

When casting an artefact spell, the artefact in question will vanish afterwards. To cast an artefact spell a dice roll will be made to determine the result.
Trading & Gifting
Sometimes an item does not serve your character due to their class, species, weapon, etc. Or you simply don’t like the item. When this is the case, you are able to trade or gift your item or artefact to another character. There are a few rules tied to trading and gifting, though. So make sure to read them through carefully before starting your trading and gifting!

  • * Both trading and gifting needs to happen within a thread. This means that your character has to know the other character personally in order to trade or gift items.

  • * Trading and gifting can happen within any thread, except battle threads. When battling you have to battle with the items you had in your inventory when starting the battle.

  • * To make a trade offer to another character for a specific item, your character must have knowledge of the other character owning that specific item. This can either be agreed to OOC (If this is the case add it to the bottom of your post too), or discovered through an IC thread (when a character has told your character about the item or showed it to your character for example).

  • * When receiving an item during a thread, your character is allowed to use/mention the items in the threads that are posted after the trade/gift! They cannot suddenly have the gifted/traded item within a thread that was created or staged before the actual trade/gift.

HOW TO TRADE

When offering a trade within a thread, you should, beside describing the offer within your post, add and fill in the TRADE OFFER template to the bottom of your post. The next character can respond by adding the TRADE ACCEPTED/TRADE REJECTED template at the bottom of their next post, deciding to reject or accept the offer.

You can also make a trade offer without knowing what items another character has in their possession. This is called a Trade suggestion. When this is the case, simply add the TRADE SUGGESTION template to the bottom of your post in which you offer the item to the other. The other character can choose to accept the suggestion and suggest an Item as well (TRADE SUGGESTION template), or to reject the suggestion (TRADE REJECTED template).

If character A suggests a trade, character B accepts and also suggests an item, but character A doesn’t like the item that person B offered, they can choose to reject the trade either way. If they do like the item, they can accept the trade to seal the deal.

When the trade is accepted, fill in the form within THIS thread to get your items swapped within your inventories. Only one of the two characters that participated in the trade has to report it!

Note: Even though it may seem a bit pointless, please make sure add the little accept/reject templates at the bottom of your post! This makes it a lot easier for the staff to check if the trade is done fair when updating your inventories, without having to read every word of your post! The templates can be found at the bottom of this page.

HOW TO GIFT

Gifting is a lot like trading. When character A decides to gift character B an item within a thread, simply add the GIFT OFFER template to the bottom of the post in which character A offers an item. If character B does not want the item, add the GIFT REJECTED template to the bottom of your post. If character B does want the item, add GIFT ACCEPTED instead.

When your character accepts a gift, please report the received gift to the staff by filling in the form within THIS thread, and it will be added to your inventory as soon as possible.

Once again, please do add the little accept/reject templates at the bottom of your post! This makes it a lot easier for the staff to check if the trade is fair when updating your inventories without reading every word of your post! The templates can be found at the bottom of this page.

THE BLACK MARKET

Once every season, a mysterious market will pop up somewhere within the realm. This can be anywhere, but is mostly located within a lesser populated area. Somewhere that's not near a village, town or city. This is because many valuable items and artifacts are often offered for trade here, that's why the Black Market isn't really appreciated by the rulers of the kingdoms. Within the black market you can put your items up for trade, to which anyone who's also visiting the market can reply. Of course there are a few rules and customs tied to this.

Black Market Rules

* You can only visit the black market if your character happens to be nearby when It pops up. If the Black Market appears in the north, and your character has been travelling through the desert, they cannot suddenly pop up in the north just to visit the market. The market appears for one IC week each time, so if your character wouldn't be able to travel there within a week realistically, they won't be able to visit.

* When a Black Market thread has been opened, other characters that are visiting the market have until the closing date of the market to reply. The closing date will always be mentioned when the market has appeared somewhere and an announcement will be posted once the market has closed for new offers.

* While the market only lasts one IC week before mysteriously disappearing again, offers for items and black market threads that were started within the first OOC week of the Black Market may be continued until they are finished, even after the OOC week. After the first OOC week no new offer/trading threads can be started.

* Every character that is realistically able to visit the market within an IC week is allowed to claim a spot to trade their items. If you decide to claim a spot to display your treasures, though, you cannot reply to other market threads. If you're just visiting the market without claiming a spot, you can reply to as many market threads as you want as long as your offers do not contain the same item that you've already offered within a different thread.

* Black Market threads are not like regular threads and are purely meant to reply in when your character wants to offer something for trade. Please do not reply to these threads with your character just looking at the items or saying hi.

How to trade and offer items

The mysterious Black Market appears with a bunch of empty stands and tapestries. When wanting to offer your items to the market visitors, your character can claim one of those stands or tapestries to display the treasures they want to put up for trade. How does this work IC?

* To claim a stand or tapestry you simply open a thread like you would normally, write a post about your character displaying their stuff, and add the template at the bottom of this page to the bottom of your post. Within the template you'll edit the items you have up for trade. Make sure to tag your Black Market thread by adding [BLACK MARKET] to your thread title. Characters that claim a spot to put their items up for trade are not allowed to post within other market threads. You can either offer your items, or reply to other people that have offered their items. Not both.

* To reply to someone's market thread, you simply write a reply within said thread and use the "TRADE OFFER" template that is also used for regular trades at the bottom of this page. Fill it in with the item that you want to offer and the item that you want from the other character. Just like regular trades, the first character can either choose to reject or accept by also using the right template below. The character that's replying to the market thread can offer as many times as they want (once per post) until the thread starter dismisses the other character and sends them away from their stand or tapestry (basically kicks them out of their thread).

* It is allowed to post a trade offer within the same market thread for the same item as another character, as long as the thread starter has not replied yet. The thread starter can also wait to reply If they would want to see more offers. But remember, after the market is closed you can still finish your market threads and trades but you cannot post a new offer or thread!
Templates
These are all of the templates needed to use an item, trade, gift, or to start a Black Market thread. You can simply copy them, fill them in accordingly and paste them at the bottom of your post!
